How to get to this workspace:

• From any screen in ulrichsweb.com, click SEARCH on the top navigation bar.
• From the Search Results screen, click either the NEW SEARCH button or the REVISE SEARCH button.

What you can do from this workspace:

• Search for serial title(s) using a fill-in-the-blanks form that lets you combine as many as 30 search criteria.
• Perform a Quick Search for serial titles.
• Jump to the Boolean Search workspace (click first image below to see how).
• Clear or reset the search form (click first image below to see how).
• Determine what indexes you'd like to see listed by default whenever you use ulrichsweb.com (click first image below to see how).
• Presort your search results (click second image below to see how).
• Perform any top navigation or bottom navigation option
• Jump to the Search History workspace (click second image below to see how).

How to use this workspace:

1. At least one search criterion must be selected in order to perform a search. A "search criterion" is (1) a term you type into an empty field, (2) a criterion you select from a drop down menu, or (3) a criterion you select by clicking a checkbox or radio button.
2. Click on any of the SEARCH buttons.
3. You'll arrive at the Search Results screen, which lists all titles that match your criteria.

How to use search term(s) from an index:

The top left portion of the Advanced Search workspace has four parts:

1. The index button
2. The "Search on" an index column
3. The "Search for" a term column
4. And the operator column, which lets you indicate the relationship between the search terms from one row to the row below

Choose an index:

You can either type a term into a "Search For" field as shown below:

Or you can select a term from a pop-up index as shown below:

Finally, choose an operator:

Search example:

The following screen finds titles that:

• Are active, scholarly publications publications with the word "desert" in the title
• Are published in the United States by a publisher in Arizona
• Are both refereed and abstracted/indexed
• Started between 1970 and 2000
• Have a subscription cost of $25 to $50 in US dollars
• And are available through CISTI document delivery service
